On Friday, January 11th the Blackford Bruins boys basketball team came out on top of a hard-fought battle against Mississinewa Indians. The Bruins had many players contribute to the win, whether it was scoring, defense, or the energy they brought to the team, it all helped. Not only did the players provide energy for each other, but the crowd also fueled the players with endless energy. Many players had huge statistic nights from the Bruins; Luke Brown tallying thirty-nine points, Dalton Willmann recorded ten points and sixteen rebounds, while many others scored.

Dalton’s performance earned him the title of player of the game. Not only did his stat have a crucial impact on the game his attitude and energy rubbed off on his teammates and boosted their games. The sixteen rebounds that he pulled in was the most rebounds someone on the team has recorded this season. The team needed all of the rebounds that they could get when they faced off against the Indians because they were way outsized, and Dalton stepped up and fulfilled that role almost single-handedly. Without Willmann’s performance who knows if the Bruins would have been able to come out on top in the hard fight, grind it out game.

With the win they earned from this game their record improved to eight wins on the season and two losses. This game is the first time that the Bruins have beaten the Indians in seven years. The Bruin boys hope to have this energy roll over and allow for them to go on a run as they are facing a difficult schedule these next few weeks.
