Story of LeBron James
September 18, 2018
The biggest news in the NBA in four years came about this summer, LeBron James was leaving his hometown NBA team the Cleveland Cavaliers. The destination of his decision was only known by himself. LeBron had every fan of the NBA wanted him to join their team. Just last season LeBron carried the Cavs all the way to the finals but ended up losing 3-0 to the Golden State Warriors. The day had come, July 2nd, 2018, LeBron James announced who he was going to sign with for the upcoming season.
The Los Angeles Lakers it was. He is joining forces with the rising star, Brandon Ingram, and the second year star, Lonzo Ball. Not only did LeBron join the Lakers this summer in free agency, JaVale McGee, Lance Stephenson, and Michael Beasley also joined the Lakers. James signed a $154 million contract to play for the Lakers for four years.
Shortly after the news was released about LeBron playing for the Lakers, a local artist painted a portrait on a wall, and then someone vandalized it by painting over it. Many Lakers fans have mixed emotions about the signing of LeBron. They feel that he is going to change their legacy. The fans want Kobe Bryant to be the face of the franchise forever but feel that LeBron may come along and become the face.
Previously Lebron has played for the Miami Heat and the Cleveland Cavaliers. He won NBA Finals championships with both teams, one with Cleveland, and three with Miami. Out of those four finals wins, he won the award of most valuable player every time. By winning the championship while he was playing for the Cleveland Cavaliers, he fulfilled his promise that he made when he first joined the team; that promise was that he was going to bring the town of Cleveland a championship trophy. Even after leaving the Cavs the fans of the team still loved him, and support him.
Many fans of the National Basketball Association label him at the G.O.A.T. (Greatest of All Time.) Even fans that don’t root for the team that he is on consider him the best player to ever play the sport of basketball. The argument of who is the best basketball player will forever be open because everyone has their own opinion.
The early stages of life were really rough for LeBron James. He was raised by his single-parent mother, they moved all around the state of Ohio, so it was hard for LeBron to get settled in one spot and feel comfortable. In the fourth grade, he missed nearly one hundred days of school. Without basketball, LeBron wouldn’t have had any motivation to make it through the rough times in his early life. LeBron defeated the odds of living in poverty his whole childhood, to being the face of the National Basketball Association. The people that don’t like LeBron can hate on him all that they want, but they have to show respect to him for coming from rock bottom to where he is now.
